(11 Jul 1918, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
MRS. L. A. HOWE
Lydia McGregor Howe was born September 21st, 1861 and died July 6th, 1918,
age 56 years.  She was married to J. W. Howe May 28th 1890.  Mr. Howe died
at Canute, March 22nd, 1917.
The Howes lived in Canute twelve years, most of the time in the grocery
business and were well known to the people here.
Mrs. Howe was a member of no church and subscribed to no creed but lived
and died faithful to her belief in the God of nature.  She was a woman of
very high ideals and noble purposes, secure in the conciousness (sic) of a
life well spent.  She met death without a fear.
