Many of the old settlers of Beckham and Roger Mills counties were saddened Wednesday morning by the news of the death of Walter Huff, who passed away Tuesday night in the Cheyenne hospital. His death was caused by blood poison, which had set in before an operation. Most of the people along the Texas and Washita line that have driven cattle to the point on the Choctaw road, remember the hospitable pioneer ranch home of Walker and his mother, Mrs. Huff. In later years he made his home in Cheyenne where he has always been greeted by many friends on his frequent visit to that place since his removal to Herring, Okla. He was engaged in the mercantile business at the time of his death. Mr. Huff was married a year and a half ago to Mrs. Nora Bates Castleberry. He leaves a wife and two children, a mother, two brothers, and four sisters to mourn his untimely death. A man who has made homes as pleasant in this world as Mr. Huff, make us fell a grateful spirit for the eternal home. A Friend. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
