FLOYDENE HUGHES On the morning of March 26, 1994, the angle of silence came into the home of Floydene CRAWFORD HUGHES and with chilly fingers sealed the lips of Floydene, a loving wife and mother. Another soldier has gone to get her great reward. She fought the fight, she kept the faith and now she is gone home to God. Her soul has gone to God, who giveth. The Earth will claim its own, her body, but she is shouting around the throne. While we are left to mourn. But someday, we will meet again all our loved ones, who have gone on before. Someday, we will reach the happy land where parting will be no more. Floydene CRAWFORD HUGHES was born June 1, 1933 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Floyd and Avertine CRAWFORD. She grew up in Elk City and graduated from high school where she was the valedictorian of her class. Later in 1965, she moved to Lawton, Oklahoma where she graduated from Aladdin Beauty School. She was a licensed cosmetologist and licensed as an advanced instructor. She was employed by American Beauty Supply for six years, and Dot's Beauty Box, Sally's Beauty Shop for a year. In 1948 she united with the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Elk City, Oklahoma. She later joined New Life Seventh Day Adventist Church in June 1985 in lawton, Oklahoma where she was active as head usher, assistant Adventist youth leader, assistant personal ministry leader, deaconess and cradle roll/kindergarten teacher. She was united in Holy Matrimony with Harold HUGHES on May 24, 1985 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father, Floyd CRAWFORD, a brother, Arthur Eugene and auntie, Edna Mae BRANCH. She is survived by her husband, Harold HUGHES of the home, four sons, Delbert Morris, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Richard Stanley CRAWFORD, Elk City, Oklahoma, William Earl TOLBERT, Wasco, California, Michael WALKER and Brandom COMPTON, both of Lawton, OK; two daughters, Brenda KING, Palmdale, California and Anita BRYSON, Elk City, OK; her mother, Avertine HUCKLEBY, Elk City, OK; step-father Virgil COLLINS, Elk City, OK; one sister, Jackie CRAWFORD, Los Angeles, California; three brothers, Earnest L. CRAWFORD, Sr. and wife, Christina, Elk City, OK, Johnny L. COLLINS, Sr. and wife, Ora Mae, Pittsburgh, California, Percy CASPER and wife, Ann, Elk City, OK, auntie, Ruby D. JACKSON, Elk City, OK; uncle, Earnest HUCKLEBY, Alamagordo, New Mexico; 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery
