(18 Oct 1928, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
OBITUARY
Dr. and Mrs. L. M. Kennedy returned from Electra, Texas, the first of last
week, where Mrs. Kennedy had been at the bedside of her mother, Mrs.
Melissa Hughes, who passed away Sunday, October 7th.  She was 77 years of
age and had been an invalid for ten years, the last three years of which
she was confined to her bed at the home of Mrs. L. M. Kennedy of this city
and another daughter, Mrs. M. C. Cook of Electra, Texas.
She had been a faithful member of the Church of Christ for 46 years.
She left to mourn her loss three daughters, Mrs. M. C. Cook of Electra,
Texas, Mrs. W. A. Fanning of Littlefield, Tex., Mrs. L. M. Kennedy of Elk
City, and one son, Mr. G. C. Hughes of Littlefield.
Her funeral was held Monday, October 8, in the Church of Christ at
Electra, and her body was laid to rest in the Cemetery at Davis, Okla.,
beside her husband.  John and Si Kennedy of Dallas came up to attend the
funeral of their grandmother.
