(28 Mar 1919, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. W. E. Hunt of Carter died at Elk City on Thursday night of last week, the remains being brought back to Carter and laid away in the Carter cemetery on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Hunt was at Elk City taking treatment when she made a change for the worse and soon passed away. She had been in poor health for a long time, her condition getting worse last fall. Since then her health would seem to improve at times but such improvement would only be temporary. The funeral services were held at the family home in Carter, Rev. Campbell having charge of the services. A very large crowd of friends and relatives were present both at the home and at the cemetery to pay their last respects to the memory of the true and worthy life of the deceased before her remains were consigned to the grave. Every business house in town closed their doors during the funeral hour. Mrs. Hunt left her husband and six children to mourn her death. Three of her boys, Adam, Elmer and Roy, are now serving in the United States army in France. Rupert, Avah and Lawrence are at home. We extend our sincere sympathy to the bereaved husband and children. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
