He died at Elk City March 7, 1929, at the age of 60 years, 17days. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church March 8, at 3:00 p.m. Rev S. N. Wilson officiated. Interment was made in Fairlawn cemetery. Gentry-Killough, directors, were in charge. (11 Apr 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): George Franklin Hunt was born February 20, 1869, in Dent county, Missouri, near Salem, and died at his home in Elk City March 7, 1929, at the age of 60 years and 15 days. He was united in marriage with Martha Matilda Wright in 1891. To this union twelve children were born all of whom were at home at the time of the death except the eldest son, a boy, Herman, who lives in Brooklyn, New York. Pa, as we always called him was ever in good spirits and never complained even though he was sick a long time he bore his suffering without a complaint and never worried. He was a true, sober hearted husband, a loving father and a true Christian. He was united with the First Baptist Church at Lone Oak and lived a true Christian. Those of the children that attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Gates of Dalhart, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mitchell of Carmey, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Tucker of Grimes, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Crook of Elk City; Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Green of Cheyenne, Okla.; Mr. Grason Hunt of Pampa, Texas; Mr. Artus Hunt of Pampa, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Black of Mangum, Okla.; Miss Bessie Hunt of Elk City; Miss Pearl Hunt of Elk City; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Hunt, Elk City.
