(10 Apr 1924, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): OBITUARY. Mrs. Lillie Imhoof (nee Belknap) Mrs. Lillie Imhoof was born Jan. 22, 1874, in Pippen Co., Wisconsin, came with her parents to Laclede Co., Mo., near Conway. There she grew to womanhood, was married to Mr. Homer Imhoof, Oct. 22, 1897. To this union 8 children were born, two dying in infancy, a girl and a boy. Six children are living five girls and one boy to mourn her departure. She died March 18, 1924. Elder J. D. Parten preached her funeral sermon, at the home after which her body was taken to the Lone Star cemetery near Rocky, Okla., (Washita County) for burial. The snow was so bad that not many could get to the cemetery. Besides her family she leaves to mourn her loss an aged father and mother, three brothers and three sisters. One sister preceeded her in death nearly two years ago. No one knows how much she suffered. She often begged the good Lord to take her out of her suffering. She said she was ready and willing to go, said all she hated was to leave her husband and children. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, called Rainy Mountain, near Rocky, Okla., she loved so much to go to Church when able. Dear Lillie was a good and loving wife, a dear good mother to her children, a good neighbor and will be greatly missed by all, but most especially by her husband and children for there is no one who can take a mothers place. But we could not wish her back in this sinful world, for we know she is done with her suffering and her spirit is sweetly singing in paradise where there is no pain nor suffering. Written in sorrow by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Bertie Belknap, Hobart, Okla., Rt. 5. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
