All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* JOHNSON, LUVENIA (10 Mar 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Pioneer Resident of Merritt At Rest in Fairlawn Cemetery. Funeral services for Mrs. J. W. Johnson were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in the First Baptist church with the pastor, Rev. H. W. Shirley, officiating. Mrs. Johnson had been a resident of the Merritt community for twenty years and was well and favorably known in that community and in this city. She had been in poor health for some time, and for the past two months had been unable to leave her home. Mrs. Johnson was born near Chattanooga, Tenn., March 6, 1863, and moved with her parents, when a young lady, to Arkansas and was married to J. W. Johnson near Magazine, Arkansas. She was a member of the First Baptist church. Immediate members of the family surviving are the husband, J. W. Johnson, and six children, three boys and three daughters. They are: Sherman Johnson, Roton Johnson and Tommie Johnson, all of the Merritt community, and Mrs. Joseph, of Lamar, Colo., Mrs. J. B. Piatt and Mrs. L. W. Hilgenberg, of Cisco, Texas.
