(17 Dec 1925, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): H. E. Johnson. God in his wisdom saw fit to call from this earth one of his children H. E. Johnson on the morning of December 12, 1925. Mr. Johnson was one of the pioneer citizens of Washita County, having lived there almost thirty years. Before coming to Washita County he lived in Texas. At the time of his death his home was three miles east and one south of Elk City. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Hebron Baptist church and even after he was confined to his bed expressed the desire and hope that he would soon be able to again take his place in the congregation with whom he loved so well to worship. It is the men and women of Mr. Johnson strong and enduring faith that makes people believe in the power back of the "Rock of Ages." He was united in marriage on Feb. 22, 1905 to Miss Annie Crane. To this union were born two children, Walter and Judith. Both are at home and with their mother will miss very much the guiding hand of a husband and father. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Risinger of Altus after which the remains were laid to rest in the Hebron cemetery (Washita County) by Grubitz and Son of Elk City. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, Mrs. H. E. Johnson, two children, Walter and Judith, four brothers, J. A. Johnson, Cole Johnson, N. T. Johnson, Fred Johnson, other relatives and a host of friends. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
