Alma Blanche Karr, was born March 25, 1895, in Polk Co., Arkansas. In 1899 she came with her parents to Canute, Oklahoma. She was taken ill with the Measles which after ten days sickness terminated fatally, on March 3rd, 1908, at 10:30 a.m. the soul took its flight for happier fields of light, the home of the soul, in the Paradise of God. She will be missed by a loving father and mother three sisters and two brothers, a host of friends and the entire school. The funeral was extremely sad owing to the fact that the mother was not able to attend the funeral, being sick with the same dread disease measles. The services were conducted from the Canute school house by elder O. O. Otis of Elk City. Our sympathy mingling with that of the entire neighborhood goes out to this unhappy family in bereavement. Interment took place March 4th, 1908, at the Canute Cemetery, six school mates were pall bearers. Miss Peterson, Miss Bradley, Miss Davis, Miss Johnson, Miss Hawkins, Miss Hudson. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
