Miss Leah Kaucher died in San Antonia, Texas, Feb. 4, 1910. She was a sister of Mrs. George Clark of Spring Creek community, with whom she made her home. Well known in educational circles, being for several years past one of this county's leading teachers. She had been employed in Sayre School over two years, having resigned her position there last fall on account of ill health. She had gone to San Antonia in hopes of recovery - consumption. She was a faithful Christian, member of the M. E. Church, South. Her remains will be buried at the old home in Missouri. Mrs. Geo. Clark left Saturday to attend the funeral. (10 Feb 1910, Thursday, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Miss Leah Koucher (sic), who was for several years a teacher in the Sayre public schools, died Friday, February 4th, in a sanatarium at San Antonio, Texas, where she (had) gone with the hope of recovering her health. Consumption was the cause of her death. Her health had been bad for some time, and last fall she was obliged to resign her position in the high school. Miss Koucher was a sister of Mrs. Geo. Clark of the Spring Creek community. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Her untimely death is greatly regretted by her many friends in the county, especially in the community where she lived and among the teachers and patrons of the Sayre school. Resolutions of regret and condolence were adopted Sunday by the Spring Creek Sunday school, of which she was a member. The body was sent to her old home in Missouri for interment. Mrs. Geo.
