(1 Jan 1920, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): ELI T. (sic) KEEN DEAD. Eli T. Keen, an old pioneer of Elk City, died at his home near Port, on Christmas Day. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church, at Port, on Saturday the 27th. Mr. Keen was father of Robt. T. Keen, of Canute, and will be remembered by many of the old-timers here. At one time he had the Keen Hotel in Elk City. A fitting obituary will be printed later. (2 Jan 1920, Elk City Press, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Eli B. Keen was born in Boone county, Missouri, Sept. 27, 1837 (sic), and died Dec. 26, 1919, at his home on the Keen ranch three miles north of Port. He had been a constant suffered from chronic ailments for several years, and fell asleep in the hope of rising again in the morning of the first resurrection. The funeral services were held in the Baptist church, of which Mr. Keen had been a faithful member for 59 years. He was a charter member of the first Baptist in this part of the state, which is located at Elk City. He came to this county 16 years ago. He leaves a wife and one son, as well as a number of grandchildren to mourn his loss. Rev. Y. F. Walker of Sentinel spoke words of comfort from the 21st chapter of Revelation. The burial took place in the Port cemetery. (Washita County). (8 Jan 1920, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): ELI B. KEEN Eli B. Keen was born in Boone county, Mo., Sept. 23, 1847 (sic). Was a member of the Baptist church, having joined same when about 17 years old. Enlisted in confederate army during civil war. Spent most of his life in Boone and Adrian counties, Mo. His father, Jos. S. Keen, came to Missouri in an early day from Philadelphia, Pa. E. B. Keen came to Oklahoma some twenty years ago; has resided here since that time with the exception of a few years spent in south Texas. He operated the first hotel in Elk City and was there at the time of the opening; has been interested in a business way in Elk City, Hammon and Canute during the past twenty years. Some years ago he moved on the ranch twelve miles south of Canute, where he has resided up to the time of his death, 26th day of December. His funeral was held at Port Saturday afternoon, Dec. 27th. Funeral was preached by Rev. Walker of Sentinel. He leaves a wife, Nancy M. Keen, and a son, R. T.
