(15 Jan 1920, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): GRANDMA KEEN DIES AT DAUGHTER'S HOME We are grieved to chronicle the death of Grandma Keen, the mother of our former townsman, J. E. Keen, and also the mother of Mrs. J. E. L. Douglass who resides about two miles northwest of town and at whose home she spent her last days. Grandma Keen was making a visit with her daughter when she took sick. Old age is probably the sole cause of her death. She has spent a life of usefulness and has now gone to hear the welcome plaudit, "Well done good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joys of thy Lord." Grandma Keen's home was at Weatherford, Oklahoma, where the remains were shipped for interment. The above notice is from the last week's Cheyenne Star. Mrs. Keen was mother of L. W. Keen, of near Elk city, but who was in Missouri at the time of her death, and unable to make connections in time to arrive in time for the funeral. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
