(18 Jul 1912, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): A. T. Kelly, one of the pioneer citizens of Elk City, passed to the great beyond, Monday morning at six o'clock, at the hospital. He was stricken with pneumonia nine days before his death, and at the very outset his condition was considered very serious by his friends. He gradually grew worse, and a few days before the end he was moved to the hospital. Mr. Kelly came to Elk City from Boone County, Missouri, in an early day, was a contractor and builder by trade, many of the buildings in this city are the works of his own hands, or were built under his directions. His health has been failing for some time, but he worked at his trade up to the time he was stricken with the disease that caused his death. He leaves three sons, W. D., D. W., and L. E., all who are well known in Elk City, but are not here at this time, one daughter, Mrs. M. G. Spencer of Quincy, Illinois. His wife preceeded him to the grave 21 years. The body was shipped to Columbia Missouri for burial beside his wife. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
