She was first stricken with typhoid fever, which lasted a period of ten days, after which she seemingly regained her health but it was not to be that Jessie was to stay with us. She was again taken sick of the same disease, from which she gradually grew worse until it seemed that there was no hope, she being unconscious most of the time. On Sunday, Nov. 3rd, she seemed to rally and regain consciousness of some few hours. Soon she began sinking and died about 12 o'clock, Nov. 4th. She leaves a father, mother, and three sisters, Anna, Mattie and Jennie, besides other relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Deceased was born in Lynn Co., Iowa, in April, 1889. She has lived in Oklahoma almost three years. She was a dutiful and loving daughter, very ambitious, and a devoted church worker and expressed her willingness to go. As a lady in the community she was loved and respected by all who knew her, being a general favorite wherever she lived. She was also one of our county's most successful teachers in public schools. It seems so sad that one just blossoming into womanhood should be taken from her loved ones so soon, yet we bow with reverence and submission to the One Supreme, who knoweth best at all times. We as a community extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved parents and sisters and feel that they will rest in the thought that God knoweth his own, and although separated here on earth they can only live more devoted and be ready when the summons come to meet her in that blessed Home on High. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
