(17 Jul 1903, Thursday, Elk City Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
Joseph Kirby's Demise.
Joseph Kirby, about 65 years old, living in Sec. 32, T 13, R. 25, was
found dead in his dugout one morning last week.  He had been living on his
claim about two years.  He had a few cattle and horses.  He was a union
soldier; having enlisted in some regiment in Illinois.  He (had) no known
relatives and was buried near Rankin.  His estate will probably go into
the hands of the Probate Judge of Roger Mills county for settlement.
