All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* KUPKA, ELIZABETH (1 Aug 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Kupka, Daughter of Pioneer Family, Dies in City Hospital. Final rites for Mrs. Elizabeth Kupka, 35, wife of Joseph Kupka, of Canute, were read in the St. Francis Church in Canute at 9 o'clock this morning. Rev. M. O. Dennis officiated at the services. Interment was made in the St. Francis Cemetery. Mrs. Kupka died in an Elk City hospital yesterday after an illness of about a week. Hope for her recovery had been held by relatives until the last few hours before her death. Mrs. Kupka was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kerkhoff. She moved to Canute with her parents in 1901 and has lived in that community since. The family is widely known in the Canute vicinity. As pioneers of that section they helped open the country for settlers. Surviving Mrs. Kupka are her husband, and two sons, three and six years old.
