Mrs. Charley Lathrop of Strong City died at a local hospital in Elk City, Monday, December 7 at 11:45 P.M. at the age of 49 years, 6 months and 18 days. Mrs. Lathrop has lived in this part of the country since 1901. Mrs. Lathrop's sister, Mrs. Chas. Heaston of Emporia, Kansas, attended the funeral, she is the only member of the family of ten children living. The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Strong City. The body was laid to rest in the Strong City cemetery, Dec. 9 (Roger Mills county). Mrs. Lathrop leaves to mourn her going, her husband, three children, Helen, June and Lane, three children having followed her in infancy, and her sister, Mrs. Chas. Heaston and a host of friends. (17 Dec 1925, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Narissa McDanial was born in Harrison county, Mo., May 12, 1876 and passed from this life, Dec. 7, 1925. She was married to C. A. Lathrop, May 14, 1896. Six children were born of this union, three of whom died in infancy, the other three, Helen, June and Lane, who with the husband survive. One sister, Mrs. C. W. Heaston of Emporia, Kansas, is the only living member of a family of eleven children. The family moved to Oklahoma in 1901 living on a farm a few miles north of Elk City for a short time. Later they moved to a farm in Roger Mills county where they lived till 1913 when they moved to Strong City. The deceased became a member of the M. E. Church South while young and was a noble Christian worker during the remainder of her life. When a young girl she attended college in Kirksville, Mo., she was always interested in educational work and one of her greatest wishes was to see the coming generation educated. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother. She had many friends whom loved her dearly. For a number of years the deceased has been a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge and for sometime a member of the Local Rebeckah Lodge which had a part in the burial services. Funeral services were held in the M. E. church in Strong City, Wednesday afternoon, December 9th, by Rev. Fred Kright of the Baptist church. A large crowd was present to pay their last respect to their loved friend, a number coming from a distance. The casket was covered with beautiful flowers and many offerings.
