DEATH OF GRANDMA LAWSON
It was with sad hearts the many friends of Mrs. Martha E. Lawson, heard of
her death last Saturday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Huffman.  She
had not been seriously ill very long, but her weak frail body could not
stand the attack of disease.  She did not make such a great fight for
life, for ever since her husband, the late Jack Lawson, had passed away in
September 1919, she had been anxious to go on to meet him.  They were so
devoted, had been companions so many years and had become so used to each
other, that the separation was more than she could stand.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, Rev. E.
D. Hamilton, officiating.  The church was crowded with friends to show
their last respects to their beloved friend and neighbor.  Interment was
made at Fairlawn cemetery with Grubitz & Son in charge.
Mrs. Lawson was born in Tenn., October 6th, 1844, died in Elk City,
January 15th, 1921, aged 76 years, 3 months and 9 days.  When thirteen
years of age she became a christian and ever lived true to her faith. 
Well we remember the happy prayer meetings held in her home by the
Mother's Band, in which she always took such an active part.  She was a
devoted wife and mother, and her loss will be deeply felt by the four
daughters and other relatives who remain.  The daughters were all present
at the bedside of their mother.  There were Mrs. Anna Hemphill, Oklahoma
City; Mrs. O. E. Huffman and Mrs. Ola Cox, both of Elk City; and Mrs.
Belle Smith of Wichita Falls, Texas.
The News-Democrat editors join the many friends in extending deepest
sympathy.

LAWSON FUNERAL.
The funeral of Grandma Lawson was conducted at the Baptist church Sunday
afternoon by Rev. Hamilton.  Her four daughters, Mrs. O. E. Huffman, Mrs.
R. A. Cox, of Elk City, Mrs. Belle Smith of Wichita Falls and Mrs. D. H.
Hemphill of Oklahoma City were at the funeral.  Mrs. Harry Bell Roberts
and Andrew Huffman of Oklahoma City were also present at the funeral.
