(Sep 1926, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Sad news was received on September 18 of the death of Maud, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Gunter of West Avenue C. She passed away at Jacksboro, Texas, while visiting relatives. She had been poorly for some time; her mother being called to her bedside in July and again in August, thinking the end had come. She is survived by her parents, four brothers and 2 sisters, besides her own devoted family of husband and children, 2 girls and a boy. Her husband Sug Lacock was one of the most attentive of husbands and spared no time or money to make her days easier. Her father was granted a five day furlough to attend the funeral, but circumstances prevented him doing so and he spent this time with his family at Elk City who felt the need of his presence. Being the eldest she was always a favorite with them all and was unusually devoted to her daddy. Mr. and Mrs. Gunter have the sympathy of all their friends.
