(6 May 1926, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): William T. Leach was born near Cincinnatti (sic), Ohio, June 29, 1837, departed this life April 24, 1926, age 88 years, 9 months and 24 days. He volunteered and served three years and three months in the First regiment of the Iowa Cavalry during the Civil War. He was united in marriage to Caroline Baker on the 22nd of Dec. 1864. To this union 12 children were born, all of whom survive him except two who died in infancy. Mr. Leach came with his family to Oklahoma in 1894 and filed on a farm 5 miles northeast of Canute. He lived near Canute for several years then made his home in Clinton. Mr. Leach had a stroke of paralysis nine years ago and recovered. He went to Hampton, Va., for special treatment and while partly recovering his bodily strength his mind did not improve. The deceased is survived by his wife Caroline Leach in Clinton, Okla., and five sons and five daughters, John E. Leach of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Alta Spangler of Canute, Mrs. Matilda Bethell of Clinton, Mrs. Etna Clements of Cushing, Mrs. Bertha Glancy of Dill, Wesley W. Leach of Cushing, Mrs. Ethel Poff of Guthrie; Mark A. Leach of Zillo, Washington and Calade Leach of Nampa, Idaho. Mr. Leach was converted in early manhood and joined the Methodist church, and through his life always stood for the right.
