(24 Nov 1924, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): DEATH OF IRA LEE. Ira D. Lee died in Elk City last Thursday after an illness of several weeks from typhoid fever. Funeral services were held in church of Canute, on Saturday afternoon conducted by C. H. Lemmex, pastor of the Christian Church of Elk City. A very large crowd was in attendance, many standing on the outside of the building unable to gain entrance. During the services Mr. Reaves of the Vawter Evangelistic Party sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "My Faith Looks up to Thee," with Howard House playing. A large crowd followed the remains to the Canute Cemetery. Many beautiful flowers were sent as tokens of love and sympathy. Ira D. Lee was born in Adair County, Iowa, July 13th, 1887, and died in Elk City, November 21st, 1924, aged 37 years, 4 months and 8 days. In 1899 at twelve years of age, he came to Oklahoma with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Lee and he lived in Canute community most of the time, and received his education in the Canute schools. In February 1910 he was married to Miss Willie Patterson who died April 21, 1921. To this union were born two children, a boy, Jesse and girl Olene, both of whom survive their parents. On May 6th, 1924 Mr. Lee was married to Miss Maude Shones at Cromwell, Okla. She has been very ill, also from typhoid fever, and was in a serious condition at the time of her husband's death, but we are glad to learn that she is improving and will be able to return home in a few days. Besides parents, wife and children, he leaves sisters and brothers: Marion Lee, Newton, Kan.; Vivian O. Lee, Seattle, Wash.; Floyd Lee, Marland, Okla.; Mrs. L. E.
