(23 Feb 1911, Thursday, Elk City Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): LEWIS - Mrs. Lewis died at her sister's in the northwest part of the city Monday night after a long seige of pain and suffering from that dreaded disease of dropsy. She leaves a husband and other relatives to mourn her demise, but death came to her as a relief from suffering untold agony of pain. She had been sick with this malady for several years and had been bedridden for many long weeks. However, with all her suffering and anguish, she exhibited that gentleness and loveable nature and fortitude that is characteristic of a true Christian lady, and her demise will only transform her soul from a world of pity, pain and anguish to a haven of rest and peace forever. This consolation should comfort the bereaved companion in his sorrow and declining days. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
