All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* LIBBY, GLADYS REBECCA (6 Dec 1928, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Gladys Rebecca Libby was born in Oklahoma, February 6, 1896, and died at her home near Sandstone November 28, 1928, at the age of 32 years, 10 months and 22 days. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 29, at the Berlin cemetery at 1:00 p.m., Rev. J. C. Carman officiating. Interment was made in Berlin cemetery. Mrs. Libby had been ill many months previous to her death. She will be remembered in the vicinity as a devoted mother and wife, who took part in the activities of home and community life in such a way as to command the respect and admiration of every one who knew her. Surviving relatives are: her husband, two daughters, Jewel and Opal, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Farmers; five sisters, Mrs. Guy Libby, Mrs. Cecil Rhoten, Mrs. Ernest Smith, Mrs. Harland Thomas and one brother, Truman Farmer. Gentry-Killough, funeral directors, were in charge of arrangements for burial. (6 Dec 1928, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Gladys Rebecca Farmer, third eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Farmer, was born near Cheyenne, Okla., Feb. 6, 1896, and departed this life November 28, 1928, at her home on Sandstone. She was laid to rest in the Berlin cemetery by the side of her mother, who preceded her several years in death. Rev. J. C. Carman of Elk City, officiated. She was united in marriage to Guss Libby, September 4, 1916. To this union were born two daughters, Jewel Mae, age eleven, and Opal Juanita, age eight. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Guss Libby, two daughters, Jewel Mae and Opal Juanita, father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Farmer, five sisters and one brother, namely: Mrs. Beulah Rhoton of Wheeler, Texas; Mrs. Dona Smith of Elk City; Mrs. Ila Libby, Mrs. Thelma Thomas, Mrs. Threcia Thomas and Truman Farmer, all of Sand Stone community, also her aged grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Farmer of Elk City, and a host of neighbors and friends.
