Mrs. W. H. Hewlett received the message this week of the death of her brother, Charles Edward Lilly, on last Wednesday at his home in Santa Cruz, Calif. He had a stroke of paralysis last March but seemed to be slowly recovering and the family thought he would soon be well again, but on Nov. 21, he had a relapse and though specialists were summoned from San Francisco he continued to grow worse until his death last Wednesday, Dec. 1. He leaves a wife and two daughters who will miss the tender care and love of a devoted husband and father. Mr. Lilly and family visited Mrs. Hewlett here about twelve years ago, and no doubt many of our citizens will remember him. He was a prominent citizen of Santa Cruz, having been post master for a number of years. (Census, 1920, California, Santa Cruz Co, Santa Cruz Wd 2, ED 226, pg 5A, #131/132 (T625-148): Chas. E.
