SHANNON LINDSAY (sic) Rowe Martin received a telegram Tuesday noon of the death of his sister, Mrs. Shannon Lindsay that morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. Chas. E. McKenna, of Webb City, Mo. Mrs. Lindsay's home is near Joplin, Mo., but at Christmas time she went to visit her sister at Webb City and became ill, since which time she has been in a serious condition, her death being expected most any time the past month. Mrs. Sebe Thomas, another sister, who lives in Elk City, has been with her for several months. Rowe Martin visited her a few weeks ago. Mrs. Lindsay was born in Ashland, Mo., and was about 54 years of age at the time of her death. Of a family of seven, three brothers and four sisters, she was the first to pass away. At one time Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay lived in Elk City, and they have many friends here. She leaves her husband and one daughter, Lois, her brothers A. B. and Rowe Martin, of Elk City, B. H. Martin, Washington, D. C., Mrs. C. E. McKenna, Webb City, Mo., Mrs. Sebe Thomas and Mrs. C. W. Burnett of Elk City. We hope to have a fitting obituary of this noble woman for our next issue. (8 May 1925, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): MRS. S. C. LINDSEY DEAD. End Comes at Home of Sister. Has Been Ill Since Christmas Day. Mrs. S. C. Lindsey, who formerly lived at Morgan Heights, died at 9:15 o'clock this morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. C. E. McKenna, 906 West First street, Webb City. A year ago last February the Lindseys moved from Morgan Heights to the Freeman farm south of Joplin which is the present Lindsey home. He is a prominent Holstein breeder. Mrs. Lindsey was suddenly stricken last Christmas at Mrs. McKenna's home, where she and her husband were guests for the day. Her condition was serious, and it was not considered advisable to move her to her home. Complications developed, resulting in her death. Mrs. Lindsey was 52 years old. She was born at Ashland, Mo., October 26, 1872. The family lived at Morgan Heights at two different times for a period of several years. Mrs. Lindsey was a member of the First Baptist church here. She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Miss Lois, who lives at home. There also are three sisters and three brothers: Mrs. S. J. Thomas of Elk City, Okla.; Mrs. McKenna, Mrs. Claude Burnett of Elk City, A. B. Martin and R. L. Martin, both of Elk City, and B. H. Martin of Vienna, Va. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the McKenna home in Webb City. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. W. W.
