(8 Feb 1917, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): DEATH OF W. W. LOCKHART. Obituary. W. W. Lockhart was born in Washington County, Indiana in 1837, went to Texas in 1858, was married to Miss Eva Martin at Baton Rouge, La., in 1865. Died at his home in Hammon February 4, 1917. Mr. Lockhart enlisted in the Union Army from the State of Louisiana at the beginning of the civil war and served until it closed in 1865. Mr. and Mrs. Lockhart had no children of their own but raised eleven orphan children in all, during their married life. Mrs. Lockhart died January 8, 1916, at their home in Hammon. The deceased had no near relatives here but a few days previous to his death willed his property to relatives. The residence property he willed to Sam and Levi Miller of Norman, Okla., two nephews. His personal property which amounted to about $2,500 worth, he willed to Misses Ida and Hulda Bible, two nieces of Llano, Texas. Funeral services were held at Red Hill Cemetery (Roger Mills County), Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. T. C.
