(7 Apr 1921, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): DEATH OF GRANDMA LYDA Mrs. Mary A. Lyda was born in Adair county, Mo., May 10, 1841, and died at the home of her son, S. B. Lyda, near Elk City, Okla., Saturday, April 2nd, 1921, aged 79 years, 10 months and 23 days. When a young girl she moved to Macon county, Mo., and was married there in 1859 to H. F. Lyda, who died in 1873. To this union were born nine children, five girls and four boys, four of whom survive her; S. B. Lyda, Elk City, Okla., Frank Lyda, Caldwell, Kan., Mrs. Lizzie Todd of Brewer, Mo., and Mrs. Lula Belmar of Kensett, Ark. Two brothers and a sister also survive her. Henry Holderby of Byron, Okla., Hiram Holderby of Kansas, and Mrs. Martha White. Funeral services were held at the Fairlawn cemetery on Sunday afternoon, April 3rd, conducted by Rev. DeVore. Mrs. Lyda became a member of the M. E.
