Jessie Lynn was born in Lincoln, Ill., Oct. 10, 1844, and was married to Miss Levnie Crum May 5, 1864. To this union 12 children were born, 5 of whom survive him. Jessie and Luther of this city are his sons. Mrs. Lynn died December 16, 1890. He was again married to Mrs. Cordelia Waggoner. To this union was one son, Frederick, of this city. Mr. Lynn moved from Illinois to Decatur, Texas, in 1868. He moved to this place, took up a claim just south of the city, long before Elk City was begun. He had been a member of the Christian Church for thirty years, an able Bible scholar, and a man held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He died Oct. 25, 1908, after a lingering illness of several months. Funeral services were conducted by E. M. Pinkerton at the Church of Christ, Monday afternoon, after which the body was laid to rest in the City Cemetery. A good man is gone, his place will be hard to fill.
