Mrs. Lyon's parents moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, when she was five years of age. They reared a family of four boys and five girls. Four of them have preceded her to the Spirit Land - the father on June 18, 1912; her brothers as follows: Talma in 1914, Willie in 1917, and Harry on November 27, 1926. Interment was made at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana. Funeral was in charge of Dr. John Hueston. The funeral sermon was preached by Dr. Manson E. Baker, those men both nationally known evangelists. Her body rested at the chancel rail where her husband sought and obtained the same experience while Dr. Baker helped him pray through to victory. It was at this same chancel rail, May 23, 1920, that her daughter, Willamay, was given wholly to the Lord in christian baptism. Since her marriage Mrs. Lyon has gone with her husband in his evangelist work and to pastorates in New Waverly, Ind., where they remained for eighteen months; to Mexica, Indiana, for one year; to Bellefontaine, Ohio, for nine months. After leaving Bellefontaine, Mrs. Lyon, together with her husband and daughter came to Cement, Oklahoma, where her husband was pastor and camp meeting evangelist for eighteen months. Then the family removed to Gracemont, Oklahoma, where he served as pastor for two years, and then to the First M. E. Church at Elk City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Lyon did not accompany her husband to Elk City, it being necessary for her to go to Colorado for her health. Mrs. Lyon leaves to mourn her loss, a husband, Oscar B. Lyon, Pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Elk City, Okla.; a daughter, Willamay Lyon, age six, of the same city; a mother, Mrs. Margaret Mendel, Indianapolis, Indiana; four sisters: Mrs. Jettie Fillensworth of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Mrs. Elnora House of Indianapolis; Mrs. Dorothy Waldkotter of Indianapolis; Mrs. Mabel Edison of Philadelphia.
