All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* MACKEY, GEORGE HAMILTON (29 Nov 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): MACKEY FUNERAL HELD AT BELMONT SAYRE, Nov. 29 - Funeral services were held yesterday at Belmont for George Hamilton Mackey, 68, who died at the family residence in Berlin Wednesday night, Rev. F. D. Rutherford, pastor at Belmont, conducted the services. Mr. Mackey was one of the pioneer settlers of that section. He located there when that part of the county was known as part of Roger Mills county. He was active in community affairs and a consistent member of the Belmont church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Mackey and two sons. (30 Nov 1930, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Another old timer to pass away is George H. Mackey of near Sayre, who died here Wednesday. He was born in New Paris, Ohio, May 22, 1862. He died at his home at 9:30 A.M. Mackey moved to Sayre with his family in 1896 where he has since resided. George Mackey was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Kober at Trader, Iowa, on February 3, 1886. To this union were born four children, Mrs. Myrtle Holland and Fred Mackey of Ninaview, Colorado, Frank Mackey of Durham, Oklahoma, and Paul Mackey of Sayre. Others who survive him are his eleven grand children, Omer Mackey of Eldorado, Ohio, and five nieces and nephews. The deceased was converted and united with the Baptist church of Brookfield, Missouri in October 1896. In June 1930 he united with the Assembly of God at Sayre. He will be remembered as a kind follower of the Christian faith. Funeral services were held at the Belmont church at 3 P.M. Friday, November 28, with F. D. Rutherford of Sayre officiating.
