MARTIN, DURAND
(11 Mar 1908, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
DURAND MARTIN.
Durand Martin died at the home of his parents, one half mile north of
town, March 9.  He was recovering from an attack of pneumonia and was
thought to be almost safe from the attack when he was taken with heart
failure and expired before relatives and friends of the family could reach
him.  The funeral was conducted from the Methodist church, T. D. Penn
officiating.
Durand was sixteen years and one month old when he died and was a member
of the Ashland, Missouri, colony, having come to this country when a mere
boy.  He was always a good boy and fond hope of his parents, who with many
relatives and friends are deeply stricken with grief at his untimely
taking away.
