The funeral was preached by Rev. Mitchel at the Baptist Church at Elk City Saturday. He was buried at Fairlawn cemetery. He leaves his parents, four grandparents, two great grandfathers, great grandmother, uncles, aunts and cousins to mourn his departure. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved relatives. Mr. John Martin and granddaughters, Miss Jessie Lusk of Beaver City, visited his son J. W. and family and attended the funeral of his great grandson Saturday. (29 Jul 1926, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): It was with the deepest sorrow we learned of the death of Baby Floyd Myrl, who after a short illness of only a week passed to his heavenly home July 16, 1926, at the home of his grandparents. Everything possible was done for him but it was God's will to call him home where there is no sin and strife. Floyd Myrl was born at Canute, Okla., January 28, 1925, and was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Martin, who with a host of relatives and friends mourn his passing away. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church where Brother L. D. Mitchell preached the funeral. After which he was laid to rest in the Fairlawn Cemetery where many beautiful floral offerings were placed around his resting place. He will be greatly missed but we can only say, "Thy Will be Done." --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
