MARTIN, JOHN D.
(2 May 1906, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
Obituary.  John D. Martin was born Feb. 22, 1842, died at his home two
miles west of Hammon April 22, 1906.  Mr. Martin was an old soldier
serving in the 9th Illinois volunteers one year, then joined the regulars
and served three years at Ft. Cobb, I. T.  He leaves two daughters and one
son and seven grand children to mourn his loss.  His wife proceeded him to
the better land seventeen years ago.  His remains were laid to rest in the
Red Hill cemetery (Roger Mills County).  The bereaved ones have the
sympathy of the entire community in this, their time of affliction.
