E. Gilkey returned recently from Wayside, Kans., where they attended the funeral of Mr. Gilkey's sister, Mrs. Harriet Maynor. Mrs. Maynor, who was 52 years old, died suddenly of a heart attack. She was born March 6, 1877, in Terre Haute, Ind., and was taken with her parents when quite young to Montgomery county in Kansas. She was married to Henry Maynor in Independence, Kan., July 24, 1901. Since their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Maynor have lived in or near Wayside, Kansas. Mrs. Maynor is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Roberts of Sedan, Kan., and Mrs. Francis McClure of Havana, Kan.; four sons, Charles Maynor, Oscar Maynor, George Maynor and John Maynor all of Wayside, Kan.; four brothers, W. E. Gilkey of Elk City, Okla., J. L. Gilkey, Rockville, Mo., G. T. Gilkey, Bristow, Okla; and four sisters, Mrs. L. E. Hays, Portland, Ore., Mrs. J. H. Romini, Mena, Ark., and Mrs. D. M. Grew, Stigler, Oklahoma. Interment was made at Independence, Kan., by the side of her father and mother. Many of her brothers and sisters and other relatives from out of Kansas attended the funeral. Mrs. Maynor was widely known in her community. She was one of the early settlers in Kansas and her knowledge and experience in the state gave her an unlimited background of the history of the country. She was known as a devoted mother and a trustworthy friends.
