(13 Jan 1928, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Ira Cain of the Highway community, and Mr. Albert McClung of Mangum, received telegrams Wednesday, announcing the sad news that their father, Mr. J. W. McClung, had died that day at a hospital in Los Angeles, California. Mr. McClung had been suffering from the effects of paralysis that he was stricken with several weeks back. However he had sufficiently recovered from the attack that he was preparing to return to his work. Mr. McClung formerly lived in Carter and has many friends who will sorely regret to hear of his death. He was well liked by every one who knew him as he was one of the straightest and best men that has ever lived in the town or in this part of the country. He was a very religious man and everyone who knew him believed that he was living the kind of a true and upright life that he professed to be living as no one that knew him ever doubted his word. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
