J. McGaugh, and laid his icy hand upon their youngest daughter, Bernice Beatrice, her death occurring last Thursday, October 24, 1918, just one week from the day their son Grover Jerome McGaugh and his wife had passed to the Great Beyond. Bernice was born at Delhi, July 17th, 1903, and was 15 years, 3 months and 7 days old. She was a ray of sunshine in the home and everywhere she went, and will be greatly missed by the parents, brothers, sisters and friends. She was an affectionate and conscientious girl and made friends of all who knew her. She was converted in the meeting of the M. E. Church, South, when thirteen years of age, and her sweet christian life was manifested in gentleness, kindness and love to others. Her body was prepared for burial by Geo. Grubitz and taken to Sayre Sunday on the train, where friends met and escorted the remains to Delhi cemetery, where a few days before the double funeral of her brother and his wife was held. The M.W.A. Lodge at Sayre, looked after the arrangements from there. Rev. J. L. Davis had charge of the funeral services at the grave, he also assisting at the funeral of Mr. and Mrs. Grover McGaugh. It was sad indeed that the parents were unable to attend the funeral of their children, because of the illness of themselves and other members of the family. The brothers and sisters of Bernice and Grover McGaugh are Mrs. Eula Gibson, V. V. and Irene McGaugh of Elk City, Mrs. Zula Uptegrove and Mrs. Ruth Killian of Delhi, Okla., and Calvin McGaugh, who is now in the army in France. May God comfort this stricken family and be their help and strength in these sad hours. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
