When a small girl her parents moved to Wise County, Texas, where Mrs. McGrady grew to young womanhood. This was a pioneer community and the quality of her home life and rearing is no better shown than by the fact that her father was a Presbyterian elder and was the means of organizing a Presbyterian church then, which still goes by his name - Green Chapel. Mrs. McGrady as a young woman came to Oklahoma to teach school, locating near Port, south of our town. There she met her husband, Daniel McGrady, to whom she was married in June of 1902. Their home continued to be on the McGrady farm near Port until Mr. McGrady died in December of 1922. Mrs. McGrady was a church member since her girlhood. The body was sent to Elk City, the funeral being held at 2 o'clock Wednesday at the Ural Cemetery, Rev. John A. Tracy, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Elk City, officiating. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
