(22 Dec 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Funeral services for B. J. McLerran, 54, farmer near Carter, who was found dead in a field Friday, were held Sunday afternoon at the Church of Christ in Carter. Final rites were read by C. E. McGaughey, pastor of Second and Adams street Church of Christ in Elk City. Mr. McLerran has resided in Beckham county for the past four years. He came to Carter with his family from Texas and located at the present residence one mile east of Carter. He was born at Moss, Tenn., January 25, 1876, and was reared at that place. He was married to Miss Barthonia Clancy, in Moss, July 23, 1899. He is a member of the Masonic lodge and the Modern Woodman. Immediate members of the family surviving are his widow, Mrs. McLerran, and eight children, Mrs. Hilda Cason, of Gainesville, Texas, and Melvin McLerran, Belva McLerran, Amos McLerran, Amanda McLerran, Joe McLerran and Opal McLerran, all of Carter.
