All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* MC VEIGH, EDWARD (2 Oct 1913, Thursday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): The friends and relatives of Edward McVey (sic) were shocked Friday morning to hear that he had died suddenly at Wichita, Kansas. His brother Thomas of this place, left at once for that place and returned with the body Sunday morning. Mrs. McVey who had been in Davenport, Iowa, for sometime, her brother John Lillis of the same place and Mr. and Mrs. E. J. McAndrews of Denison, also accompanied the remains here. The Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus of Wichita took charge of the body and prepared it for shipment. The body was taken to the home on North Jefferson street, and at three o'clock funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church, conducted by Father Geereart. Burial at the Catholic cemetery. The Elks Lodge of which Mr. McVey was a member, buried the body with the services of that order. His, being the first death since the lodge was organized here. The funeral procession was one of the largest ever seen in the city. Mr. McVey was born in Lone Grove, Iowa, June 26, 1873. Was married eleven years ago to Miss Gertrude Lillis at the place of his birth. To this union were born five children, three of whom survive him, two died when quite young. He leaves also two sisters, Mrs. T. J. McAlpine of this city and Mrs. E. F.
