He was taken ill Monday morning while helping his little daughter wash the dishes. He will be greatly missed in his home. The deceased was 74 years old. A year ago his loving wife was called to that better land above and about two months ago his youngest son, Henry, was shot, and instantly killed with a shot gun. The deceased leaves to mourn his loss two sons, three daughters and a host of friends. Weep not dear children for thy father is only resting in Jesus arms and awaiting and watching to receive his dear children and his loved ones. O! how sweet to trust in Jesus and be prepared to meet our loved ones who have gone on before us. Weep not dear one for it was God's will not ours. The Elk City Masons took charge of the funeral Sunday eve at his home. On account of cold and blustry (sic) weather a short funeral service was held at the home. The body of the deceased was laid to rest in Grandview cemetery by the side of his loving wife and son. The deceased was a good man and will be greatly missed. His many friends join in sympathy for the bereaved ones who are left to mourn his loss which is God's gain. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
