(Nov 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): RITES READ FOR MORRIS MELVIN. Funeral services were held for Morris W. Melvin Thursday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock in the Nazarene church, with the Rev. L. E. Shaw, pastor of the church, and the Rev. W. C. Crawford of Dill City, presiding. Mr. Melvin was born near Warrior Station, Alabama, September 15, 1879. When he was eight years old he moved with his parents to eastern Oklahoma, where he lived until 1902 when he homesteaded seven miles south of Canute, and a few years ago moved six miles west of Elk City. He was converted when he was ten years of age, and was a member of the Nazarene Church in Dill City. He was married to Miss Maggie Bonny, December 26, 1907. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Morris W. Melvin, and nine children, seven boys and two girls, all whom were with Mr. Melvin at the time of his death. He died November 20 in a local hospital, after an illness of two weeks, with pneumonia. Interment was made in the Ural Cemetery.
