T. G. MELVIN Funeral services for Mrs. T. G. Melvin, 77, pioneer Washita county resident were held April 25 at the Church of the Nazarene at Dill City. Burial was made at the Ural community cemetery. (5 May 1934, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): MRS. T. G. MELVIN Miss Cora Leander Self was born March 4, 1887, in Blunt county, Alabama. She was united in marriage to T. G. Melvin in 1873. To this union was born 10 children, six boys and four girls. Three children preceded her in death. They were Morris Melvin, Dolen Melvin and Mrs. Luda Goodman. Those surviving are J. E. Melvin, Mrs. M. B. Orgain of Canute and D. Melvin of Dill City, A. E. Melvin of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. M. E. Aden of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. M. Williams of Elk City. Grandmother Melvin was reared in a Christian home, was herself converted at an early age, and became an active worker in the church. She was a faithful and devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor. Her life will be missed and remembered. She came with her husband and children to Western Oklahoma 34 years ago and was a real pioneer woman. Her home was south of Canute for several years when she moved to Dill City where she passed away on the morning of April 24, 1934. Funeral was held at the Nazarene Church at Dill City with Rev. S. Bates, Waker and Richey taking part. She was laid in the Ural Cemetery. Grandmother Melvin left behind an influence that will never die.
