(31 Aug 1910, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham, Co, OK): W. S. Meredith was born in Decatur County, Indiana, in 1855. Moved to Terrell, Texas, when a young man and lived there for thirty years. When this country was first settling he settled on a place 9 miles south of town where he lived for sometime. Several months ago he was taken with a severe attact (sic) of Rheumatism which started in his neck and shoulders and slowly extended until his whole body was effected. About two months ago he, with his family moved to Elk City where he could get better medical treatment. He gradually grew worse and died on Saturday, August 27. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 5:30, conducted by Rev. Ben M. Edwards. The body was taken to Terrell for burial, accompanied by the family. He leaves a wife, two sons, Curtis and Terrell, two daughters, Miss Ina and Mrs. Cleveland Winn. (1 Sep 1910, Thursday, Elk City Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): THE DEATH OF W. D. (sic) MEREDITH Sunday occurred the death of W. D. Meredith. Deceased was 55 years of age at the time of his death. He was born in Indiana, but was raised in Texas. The dead man homesteaded a farm near here a number of years ago, but has resided in Elk City for the past six months. The remains were shipped to Terrell, Tex., Sunday, for interment.
