A year ago Christmas she had the influenza from which she never recovered. Everything was done for her that could be, and she was taken to a different climate with the hopes that the change would benefit her, but to no avail, and four weeks before her death they returned here. Mrs. Merritt was thirty-seven years of age, a faithful member of the Methodist church, and a kind and affectionate wife and mother. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, five children (the eldest thirteen years of age, and the youngest three years old), her mother, two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were held Thursday and interment made at Sayre-Doxey cemetery. Hennings, who is conducting the Whitehurst farm during the residence of John Whitehurst in Oklahoma City - Sayre Headlight Mrs. Merriott was a sister of Mrs. Wes Siddall, formerly of Carter, who came in on Thursday of last week after receiving a message telling of her sister's death, which was the day before. Mrs. Siddall did not get to Doxey in time for the funeral. Mrs. Merriott's death was rather sudden. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
