(24 Feb 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): MILLER RITES TO BE THURSDAY. Funeral services for Mrs. J. H. Miller who died Sunday evening at her home, northwest of the city, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Broadway Methodist Church, South, it was announced today. Mrs. J. H. Miller died at her home, northwest of the city, last evening after a prolonged illness. Mrs. Miller was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Pepper, pioneer residents of this section, who died last year. She was born January 5, 1894 in Missouri and moved with her parents to this community when seven years of age, and was married to J. H. Miller here. Mrs. Miller became a member of the First Methodist church, South, when a young woman. Mrs. Miller leaves of her immediate family, her husband, Mr. Miller, three sons, Arbid Miller, Elvin Miller and Loyal Miller; two daughters, Miss Jewell Miller and Miss Verna Mae Miller; and three sisters, Mrs. J. W. Martin, Mrs. E. H. Leeper, and William Reyburn, all of which live in this community. Definite funeral arrangements have not been made, but it is likely that funeral rites will be held Wednesday afternoon in the Broadway Methodist church, South, according to Gentry-Killough, funeral directors, who are in charge of arrangements. (28 Feb 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): An obituary, written by Mrs. Minnie Mae Miller, who passed away Feb. 23, was made public today. Mrs. Miller was the wife of J. H. Miller, of near Doxey. The obituary follows: Minnie Mae Miller was born in Linn county, Mo., Jan. 5th, 1884 (sic); was educated at Laclede, Mo., made confession in M. E. Church in the winter of 1901, and made profession and was baptized by M. E. pastor in the summer of 1914, she came to Elk City with her parents in April, 1902; was married to Joseph H. Miller in September, 1903, by Rev. J. T. H. Miller. She leaves father, mother, three sister(s), husband and five children, Orbid, Elvin, Jewell, Loyal, Verna Mae. All of this community. Her motto was the golden rule, her desire was to live right. She had been in poor health for the last two years. --- Three brothers and a sister of Joe H. Miller, a farmer of near Doxey, attended the funeral of Mrs. Miller, held this afternoon at the Broadway Methodist Church, South. They are: J. T. H. Miller, of San Baba, Texas; J. T. Miller of Dewey, Okla., Walter Miller of Borger, Texas, and Mrs. Sallie Ferguson of Best, Texas. This is the first time that the four brothers and sister have been together in 50 years.
