All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* MILLER, NANCY JANE (6 Dec 1928, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Ninety-Two Years, Five Months and Twenty-Eight Days. Nancy Jane Luther was born in North Carolina July 31, 1836, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sallie Ferguson in Best, Texas, November 28, 1928, age 92 years, 5 months and 28 days. She moved to Georgia with her parents when a small child. She was converted when a young (girl) and joined the M. E. church, South. She was the oldest member of the Broadway Methodist church of Elk City at the time of her death. She was married to John J. Miller in 1854 at Ville Rica, Ga. Mr. Miller was a Confederate soldier in the sixties. He died at Villa Rica, Ga., Sept. 19, 1899, age 68 years, 5 months. To this union were born ten children, three of whom died in infancy, six living, five boys and one daughter. One daughter died in Georgia in 1898, age 38 years. Grandma Miller leaves to mourn her loss, six children, twenty-eight grand-children, forty-five great grand children, and six great great grandchildren beside a host of friends. Her children are: J. T. H. Miller of San Saba, Texas; T. T. Miller of Dewey, Okla.; W. D. Miller of Okmulgee, Okla.; Mrs. Sallie Ferguson of Best, Texas; J. H. Miller of Elk City, Okla.; and W. W. Miller of Borger, Texas. She was laid to rest in the cemetery at Big Springs, Texas. Those children attending the funeral were J. T. H. Miller, Mrs. Sallie Ferguson and W. W. Miller, the others being unable to attend.
