LEE MILLER Mrs. Nannie Rees Miller was born in Bedford, Livingston county, Mo., March 18th, 1870. Died August 9th, 1919, at her home in Elk City, Okla. Mr. and Mrs. Miller were married the 27th of April 1905. No children were born to them. Mrs. Miller leaves three sisters in California; Mrs. Emma Druell of San Francisco; Mrs. Hurley Mitchell of Fresno; and Mrs. Lula Brown of Santa Rosa. Her father, Dr. Alonzo Rees, her mother, who was Miss Nancy Elder before her marriage, and a sister, Mrs. Fannie Davis, had preceded her and were laid to rest at Selma, California, the childhood home of Mrs. Miller. Mrs. Miller joined the Baptist church October 15th, 1909. She was a true christian and died praying God to take her out of such misery. For three long years she has suffered more than tongue can tell. Everything was done for her that possibly could be done by her devoted husband and friends. All that medical science could do or loving hearts provide, the odds were too great, and the silver cord which held her to life could no longer withstand the strain. The world has been made better because she lived, who gave her flowers while she lived, and her sweet unselfish life can be, and is an example that all might follow. Funeral services were held at the home last Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. Bowles, interment was at Fairlawn Cemetery under the care of Grubitz & Son. Many friends attended the last sad rites, showing the esteem and love in which she was held by all. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
