(5 Apr 1917, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): THOMAS J. MILLER DEAD Thomas J. Miller was born in Buchanan County, Mo., September 16, 1860, and passed from earth March 31, 1917, thus making him past 56 years of age at the time of his death. While yet a small boy, Mr. Miller moved with his parents to Kansas, where he grew to manhood. When a young man he was united in marriage to Miss Henson. To this union were born one son and two daughters. The young mother went to her eternal reward Aug. 1887. In November 1889 he was married to Mary E. Barnes who passed from this earth December 26, 1908. To this latter union were born three sons and two daughters, all of whom, with the older children too, survive. His father, his kindly step-mother, a half brother and one sister are also left to mourn their loss. Mr. Miller obeyed the Gospel when in his youth and continued an active and consistent christian even to the mortal termination. The subject of this sketch had lived in Elk City a number of years, was well and most favorably known. In his departure there is left a vacancy that will be hard to fill. The funeral services were conducted by Dr. T. L. Noblitt at the First Christian Church, Sunday afternoon.
