All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* MILLER, JAMES WILLIAM (18 Apr 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): James William Miller was born at Nortonville, Kansas, on September 20th, 1892, and died in Oklahoma City on April 11, 1929. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Miller. Mr. Miller was united in marriage to Miss Myrtle Holder to which union one son, Billy Robert Miller, was born. Mr. Miller formerly lived in Elk City, Oklahoma, with his father and mother, who are now deceased. Both of them were buried in the Elk City cemetery and also a brother, Cole J. Miller. Mr. Miller was an ex-Service man who answered the call of his country on June 28, 1918. He was a very unselfish man. His last thoughts were for others. It was during his service for his country, and because of exposure, that he became weakened and ill, from which he never recovered. He leaves besides his wife and son, the following relatives to mourn his passing. Two brothers: Barten Miller of Atchison, Kansas, Thomas Ewart Miller of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and four sisters: Mrs. L. A. Bear, of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Al Borgstrom of Oklahoma City, Mrs. William Lucas of Irving, Texas, and Mrs. John A Borgstrom of Oklahoma City. He was an ideal husband and a very loving father. He had many friends in Elk City, as well as in other places where he has lived. Funeral services were conducted in Oklahoma City and a short memorial service in Elk City at the Grubitz chapel, under the direction of Rev. Carl V. Covey, and the American Legion.
